News from the Saw...
Maybe, just maybe, I can write once a week to continue to add to the growing log of wrestling with the things that come across my desk, I've cut back substantially on the phone use and have more of a civilian style I am Legend approach to things.
I've have a lot of great people in my life named Peter, starting in order of appearances, while not exhaustive, would be the Harry Potter to my Ron Weasley growing up. Peter Magic and his dad, who was the most Italian and fatherly gent I knew as a kid, also named Peter. There has been two recent Peters, and a Jamaican Peter as an adult. Jamaican Peter and I share moments when it comes to watching out for each other like civilian battle-buddies, which is the best neighbor you can have.
There are two Peters both with cancer. It sucks to never know when the next time you will see them or if you will again. Especially since as adults, and parenting, you don't get a lot of time for them, because the only thing that turns the volume down lower on things than Fight Club, is Family Club, if you are the Tyler and Narrator of the Club.
Recently I have been corresponding with a Jehovah Witness, the letters contain a veneer of manners and pleasantries, though the underlying issue at hand is once we cut to the chase, you will find that I'm not very religious or spiritual and to be recruited would be a step away from the Source that we sup with.
It's not the team I am cheering for, it is Thee Player, and I know Who Is One under the helmet. He sups with us, we know Him, this isn't to discount the fandom, religiosity of the JW as a fan of the Christian team, wearing the gear, celebrating either on official NFL days or at an in home gathering, but like Blake in The Dark Knight Rises, you have to see Him to know that Batman is Bruce Wayne the least likely guy in town, like the Nazarene.
Hopefully the blog hits a few more people than the phone call, it is not easy to keep a phone conversation together, and it is a way to use the platform to maybe motivate or maintain some form of update for when we do cross paths at the live events or script reads.
We've produced so much material over the past decade and a half as a unit and for longer as individuals that we've had to care for loved ones, coming and going, all while producing and hosting, staging and writing, building and adjusting.
Recently for a hobby I was able to learn how to build Retro-gaming consoles from computers and it is spreading into the portable handheld gaming devices just to keep cellphones out of my hands more and more.
I don't find much good to come from them and lament when you had to rely on your wits to get by, remember Roma, from GlenGarry Glenn Ross?
Context of the Quote
The Situation: Ricky Roma (played by Al Pacino) discovers that the office manager, John Williamson (played by Kevin Spacey), has inadvertently blown his cover and cost him a major real estate sale worth $6,000 and a Cadillac incentive during a police investigation into a robbery at the office.
The Interruption: As Roma unleashes a furious tirade against Williamson, a detective tries to interrupt to get Roma's attention for questioning.
The Line: Brushing off the detective temporarily, Roma snaps, "Anyone in this office lives on his wits," before telling the detective he will be with him in a while.
Local sports; Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I did not like them growing up. I thought the presentation was weak. I love orange, just the local, blind faith fandom always rubbed me the wrong way, and when Steve Young left the Bucs in '87 to back up Joe Montana, I left with him, courtesy of 1987's NES game Tecmo Bowl.
The 49ers became my team for American Football, and Steve Young, my guy, so were Jerry Rice, and I was a huge fan of Deion Sanders playing with The Braves alongside watching Braves Baseball on TBS waiting for World Championship Wrestling to come on television.
In recent years, meaning as an adult, Tom Brady's performances in the NFL, a fan of Montana, a Michigan player, Brady was a back-up for a great QB in Drew Bledsoe. To me it isn't the 16-0 season, that culminated in a Super Bowl loss, even the win, to me, isn't as impressive, it looked like this:
Season Highlights - 2007
The Final Win: They secured the 16–0 record by defeating the New York Giants 38–35 in the regular-season finale.
Records Broken: During the game, Tom Brady threw his 50th touchdown pass of the season (an NFL record at the time), connecting with Randy Moss, who broke the single-season receiving touchdown record with 23.
Postseason: The team advanced to the Super Bowl but finished the overall year 18–1 after losing to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII
in comparison to;
2017's Super Bowl, The game featured the largest comeback in Super Bowl history. The Patriots overcame a 28–3 deficit in the third quarter and secured the first overtime win in Super Bowl history. The greatest comback, versus a cloud of perfection.
Edelman yelling at Brady that he is too old. People wonder if Belichick is the key or was it Brady, same with Montana and Rice, or is it Young to Rice?
Brady comes to Tampa, the return of the back-up, who replaced a great, but now in Tampa, and he wins a Superbowl against a team that people expected to be a young lion overtaking the throne. Instead Brady, with the Bucs, walked it out.
Peter and I bonded over Brady and I would see him at work.
Peter, who acts, I see him in clips and pictures because I don't enjoy the phone play and immediate expectations from the phone. How can the phone and not seeing each other in person ever replace the feelings I had when we killed a guy and made a break for it in a guerilla filmmaking setting and it felt real in the moment.
It is hard when people are asking how the family is and they are looking at me wondering why I've checked out for a private conversation in the middle of a board game because someone is texting or calling.
I used to be able to finish a task before coming inside and knowing the phone rang. Now it takes precedent and can often lead to a resetting of entertainment apps, conversations in weird places, when you weren't ready for one.
I love you all, we've built this platform for greatness, not to feel under the knife to remember birthdays, and gift giving. This is here for you, but you are not made for it.
You're made for more than this.
The JW hit me with the "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual" but in assuming that I would say that. I'm neither. I'm very suspicious and skeptical. I don't say that for gods and then go ahead and blindly accept vaccines, fake foods, or anything the govt. is selling. I sup with the QB, I know who is under the cowl. At this point it is beyond recruiting and something to do on Sundays or to test in a science kit.
You have to know what you are seeing without becoming the salesman.
Notice, when a guy claims he prayed, or asked for a sign, he gets the sign, or thinks he does, notices he is reading page 444, notices it on the clock, hears it in a song, then pays for something that is 444, this could be a (holy/cosmic) Ghost-Writer (Word) the monkey's paw is when you announce, "hey everyone...." and become the 444 guy. It might be like PBS Ghostwriter, consider the Writing on The Wall.
Fuck what you know. You need to forget about what you know, that's your problem. Forget about what you think you know about life, about friendship, and especially about you and me.
Tyler's words coming out of my mouth. I used to be such a nice person.
